Facilitation Exchange

What do future scenario planning, the group works card deck, creative problem solving, understanding motivations through interactions with animals, liberating structures, a design conversation guide, an open learning virtual college in Pakistan, positive affirmation for empowerment and visual explorer cards all have in common?   All of these ideas, tools and methodologies were explored during our Facilitation Exchange evenings last February to April, 2015.

Pacific Center for Leadership got its name back in 1987 when a group of five partners joined together to offer a full complement of team and leadership development offerings, with a focus on experiential learning. At that time, our base was in Vancouver, and the original name was Pacific Coast Center for Leadership.  We’ve moved inland since then, and have held our office in Canmore, Alberta for over 20 years.

PCFL facilitator Colin Funk recently returned from Athens Greece, after presenting a paper at an international conference with the theme of “Making Sense of Death & Dying.” The conference was hosted by Inter-disciplinary-net an organization based out of the UK. The gathering brought together presenters from 12 different countries: academics; artists; and medical professionals. The paper – co-authored with Brian Woodword – highlighted a number of creative dialogue techniques (originally developed at the Banff Centre Leadership Lab with Motus O Dance) to help individuals and groups make sense

As an extension of the work we do at PCFL, where we ask you to be more aware of your actions, reactions, and thoughts as you go through a hands-on experience, we encourage you to gain further insight through keeping a journal. A journal can foster learning in many ways; it can illuminate behavior patterns, reveal feelings that we might otherwise ignore, and allow us to connect new information to things we already know.
